Ultraconservative Australian senator Cory Bernardi seems to be having a you-beaut time in the United States on a United Nations secondment. He gets to do very little of use on on the taxpayer’s dime – very conservative, Cory – while also moonlighting as some kind of nutbag Trump supporter.
It’s a little bit depressing to watch, but Bernardi has pitched himself as a full-throated, obsessive Trump supporter. This would be normal if he were, you know, a regular private citizen – but he isn’t. He’s an Australian senator going buckwild fanboy over Trump despite the fact that Trump clearly has zero idea who the hell he is.
And, you know, he’s ideally supposed to be more constructive during his secondment, where he acts as a parliamentary observer to UN proceedings for a period of three months.

The senator wrote in his newsletter that he’s proud to be over in the US stumping for Trump. “Unlike most of my colleagues Down Under, I’ll be cheering on a Trump victory,” he wrote. “I hope there’ll be something to celebrate.”
Trump’s the only person Bernardi follows on Twitter now, and he basically tweets about him nonstop.
