Shane Warne Wants Usain Bolt To Play Big Bash Cricket in Australia

Now that Usain Bolt has reached living legend status in his own estimation and cemented his position as one of the greatest Olympic athletes of all time, the aptly named sprinter has turned his attention to the first sport he ever participated in: cricket. In a major potential coup for Australian sports and for those who watch it, the world beating Jamaican is currently in talks to grace the Australian Twenty20 Big Bash League in a recruitment campaign spearheaded by Shane Warne, a man with obvious talents for brokering unlikely relationships.

Warne and his Melbourne Stars franchise have reportedly commenced talks with the fastest man on earth (who played junior cricket before he was scouted by an athletics coach in Jamaica) with Bolt speaking of a potential move to Melbourne in a recent interview with Channel Nine.

“He (Warne) contacted me and asked me about if I am serious and if I really want to do it then he can put in a few words that should get it done,” Bolt said.

“So we will see if I get the time off. I will try…If I get the chance I will definitely try because I know it’s going to be a lot of fun. I don’t know how good I am. I will probably have to get a lot of practice in.”

Bolt, who might be slightly better than he’s letting on and employing atypical reverse swagger mind tricks to confuse us all, clean bowled West Indian destroyer Chris Gayle in a charity match in 2009. And you thought Shoaib Akhtar was fast.
