Roger Federer Tells Tennis Officials To “Come Down Hard” On Nick Kyrgios

The sledging controversy that surrounds Nick Kyrgios refuses to bloody well end.
Yesterday, fellow Aussie player Thanasi Kokkinakis weighed in, explaining that he was forced to have words to his good mate after his name came up in the now-infamous Stan Wawrinka sledge.
Today, while the possibility of fines and a suspension from future ATP tournaments still weighs over Kyrgios, tennis great Roger Federer has weighed in, asking the group to “come down hard” on the young player.
The Swiss player told paper of record The Cincinnati Enquirer:
“We all agree that he definitely crossed the line by a long shot. We’re not used to that kind of talk in tennis. I know in other sports it’s quite common, maybe normal. Not in our sport, really. It’s normal that the [Association of Tennis Professionals] tour comes down hard on him and explains to him that it’s not the way forward.”
There you go. One day, when you’re telling your grandbabies about The Great Nick Kyrgios Pile-On Of 2015, you can add this choice detail.
Yesterday, ICYMI, American player Ryan Harrison threatened to “deck” Kokkinakis, apparently just for being mates with Kyrgios, although he has not yet been pulled up for these remarks.
