BBL Player’s New, Unorthodox Technique Deflects Ball Off Face For A Run Out

The limited-overs version of cricket prizes creativity, initiative, and physicality. Still, those contributing factors had never lead a player nailing a run out by guiding a plum strike into the wicket with their nose.

Well, fortune sorta-smiled on the Melbourne Stars’ Adam Zampa tonight, as Melbourne Renegades batsman Dwayne Bravo saw his shot deflect off strike-partner Peter Nevill’s bat. From there, it careened straight onto Zampa’s schnoz, before continuing its mad pinball path to the wickets.

The result? An actual dismissal for Nevill, who was out of his crease. Oh, and a very sore face for the 23-year-old spinner.

After receiving some well-earned ice on that face of his, Zampa returned to the pitch shortly after to pick up another wicket for his side, who are currently chasing the Renegades’ total of 155.

Fair effort, that.
