TikTokers Are Guzzling Boiled Lettuce Water To Help Fall Asleep & Science Says They’re Right

tiktok lettuce water hack how to sleep

Gather round all my sleepless binches, because TikTok apparently has a hack that’ll have you dozing off without much hesitation at all. It sounds wild, because it is, but apparently if you sip upon the magical properties of lettuce water, you’ll be hitting the hay in no time.

If you’re like me and take seventy-five years to fall asleep after counting every damned sheep in regional Australia, you’ll take anything you can get your hands on when it comes to falling asleep quicker.

Fear not though my tired heauxs, because TikToker @shapla_11 claims to have found a way to get you dozing off instantly, and honestly, it’s pretty fkn brilliant (and easy, which is always important).

Apparently, all you have to do is boil some lettuce leaves in a cup and drink the lettuce water, and you’ll be feeling tired in no time. Sounds easy enough. Obviously, you take the lettuce out before you drink, so it’s basically like a nice sleep-time tea, minus the caffeine.

“Update, lettuce has crack because your sis is gone,” she says at the end of the vid, after trying the hack.

It’s important to note that although @shapla_11 adds peppermint tea to the concoction to make it taste better, she later remedied this advice with a disclaimer in the comments.

“Btw guys don’t use peppermint – apparently it actually keeps you awake so for the best results use camomile tea or avoid adding any other tea,” she wrote.

And the comments are an absolute riot.

“Not me about to ask my bf if he wants tea, since he stays up playing games,” one TikTok user wrote.

“No wonder after I eat a triple meat burger I feel so sleepy, the lettuce gets warm in between the meats,” wrote another.

So, does the hack actually work?

Well, the short answer is yeah, it actually does. Lettuce contains a high level of lactucarium, which researchers have proven can make you feel relaxed and super sleepy. For a long time, lettuce water and lettuce seed oil has been used to promote sleepiness, and also a good nights sleep.

It looks like TikTok isn’t just full of nonsense for once. We stan.

If you need me I’m gonna go drink a whole litre of this magic stuff and enter the longest sleep of my life.
