Andre Johnson, who performs under the name Christ Bearer, was seriously injured after an incident in which he severed his own penis and jumped off a second story balcony. He, along with the separated member, was taken to a nearby hospital where he is being treated. The incident occurred at an apartment building in North Hollywood where Johnson resides.
Johnson, as Christ Bearer, is a member of the Long Beach, California based hip-hop group Northstar, which is affiliated with the extended Wu-Tang Clan family. The group, discovered by Wu-Tang mainstay RZA in 1998, released one album in 2004, entitled RZA Presents Northstar. The group consisted of Christ Bearer and Meko, and have remained largely inactive or unproductive in the years following the album’s release. Outside of Northstar, Christ Bearer had collaborated extensively with fellow Wu-Tang family band, Killa Beez. The album Christ Bearer & tha Killa Beez was released last year.
Two members of another group that resides in the same apartment building as Johnson insist that drugs were not a triggering factor in the incident, insisting that Johnson was not “any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing.” Police are treating the incident as a suicide attempt. Those involved believe that in the early hours of the morning, Christ Bearer, without warning, cut off his penis and subsequently leapt from the balcony, landing on the pavement below.
At the time of writing, it is unknown whether Doctors treating Christ Bearer have attempted to reattach his severed penis. No clue is known as to what triggered the event, whether it be drug or mental health-related.
