WATCH: Amy Schumer Talks Self-Confidence, Launches Body Image Initiative

We’ve basically established that Amy Schumer is unbeatable at this point. The comedian and actress continues to kick goals in the entertainment industry, but it’s her surprising work as an activist is proving to be her most powerful.

In an interview on the Today Show, Schumer spoke candidly – as always – about her own issues with self-confidence, saying “if you feel smart, if you feel sexy, but then you go to get dressed… I say all the time, I don’t have that chip where I know how to dress.”
It proved to be a serious issue for the Emmy Award winner, saying she felt like “some nights I couldn’t even go on stage because I couldn’t find an outfit I felt good in.”
Now, Schumer and her stylist have teamed up with op-shop giant Goodwill for sessions to promote positive body image for women.
Schumer describes her own experience, saying “it was such a gift to be given to learn how to dress, to feel good about myself, and that’s the gift we want to give everyone – everywhere.”

“I can’t perform my best or be confident if I’m not sure if I’m pulling at something. And sometimes I would just want to throw in the towel, and be like ‘I’m not gonna do stand-up tonight’.”
Using her experiences to help others isn’t a new thing for Schumer, who gave a heartfelt call to tighten gun control in the U.S following a deadly shooting during a showing of her film Trainwreck, but she says working in the entertainment industry has given her a personal insight into how important self-image can be – and that Hollywood’s standards are “nuts”.
