Vienna Installs Pedestrian Lights That Celebrate Love Equality

You guys, this is straight-up adorable.

As the city prepares to host a big heap of major public events – notably, the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest – Vienna has taken the step to publicly celebrate love, peace, tolerance, and equality by installing pedestrian lights that depict couples of all persuasions.
Instead of the usual stick figures, the city has put in lights that depict loving couples – some featuring a man and a woman, some featuring two men, and some featuring two women.
Along with Eurovision – which Austria won last year through cross-dressing superstar Conchita Wurst – the city is also hosting Life Ball, Europe’s largest charity event that benefits AIDS and HIV research.
Of course, because simply cannot have nice things, the lights are facing opposition in the form of Austria’s Freedom Party which has announced it has lodged a criminal complaint, claiming the lights contravene traffic laws and are a waste of taxpayer money.
City officials, however, remain ardently in favour of the lights – which the public has reacted positively to – stating they conform to laws, promote tolerance, and hope the increased attention they draw from pedestrians will also reduce jaywalking.
Seriously though, HOW COULD YOU EVER BE MAD ABOUT THESE?
So cool! So cute! Do more awesome things with ordinary city objects please, every city ever.
