NYC’s Empire State Building Has Lit Up Rainbow To Celebrate The Yes Vote

Even New York’s iconic Empire State Building is apparently getting in on the celebrating following this morning’s announcement of the successful Yes vote for marriage equality.

The towering cornerstone of the Manhattan skyline often uses its upper-level lights to mark special occasions, and in the dead of a New York night they’ve apparently decided to show a little love to their Australian LGBTQIA mates.

Despite the fact that the tower is scheduled to display its default white lights this evening, the upper reaches of the building are currently illuminated in glorious rainbow in an apparent nod to everyone currently joyously celebrating out here.

Social media is awash with photos of the world-famous building, shimmering through the middle of the NYC night.

And mates, the ex-pats? They’re bloody loving it sick.

Hell yeah, mates. This absolutely rules.

It might’ve taken a while to get to this point, but it’s certainly nice to know that the rest of the world is chucking us all one hell of a thumbs up right now.

It’s a good day, pals. It’s a good, good, good, good day indeed.
