Turtle Fan Tries To Smuggle Pet Turtle Onto Plane Disguised As KFC Burger

Look, why not.

You love your turtle. You really love your turtle. You’re about to go away to Beijing and you think “Should I leave Donatello with a friend?”, but then you decide the pain would be too great. You’re taking that damn turtle on the plane.
A man identified by China’s Guangzhou Daily newspaper only by his surname “Li” did exactly that, deciding the best way to get his turtle through the airport scanners was by disguising it as a perfectly ordinary burger.
He achieved this impressive feat by putting between two sesame seed buns and wrapping it in a KFC wrapper and placing it in his bag before attempting to enter Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.
Airport security suspected something was a bit fishy when they noticed unusual protrusions emerging from the usually circular footprint of the burger.
Security asked him what was in the bag but luckily he also had a foolproof plan for getting out of that, telling them:
“There’s no turtle in there, just a hamburger. There’s nothing special to see inside.”

Somehow they managed to see through that, and refused to let him in with the turtle. He wisely decided to leave it with a friend and even managed to make it back to the airport to catch his flight.

He copped a mixed reception on social media, some admiring his love for his noble animal companion, others criticising the fact that he exposed his turtle to radiation.
