These Are The Richest Young People In Australia

Morning peasants, BRW has released its annual compendium of green (envy, cash money, take your pick!) in the form of its Young Rich List and with it the general feeling that we should stop playing Xbox so much and maybe learn how stocks work? The co-founders of Australian enterprise software company AtlassianMike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, topped the list with a combined wealth of $2.1 billion, the highe$t ever since the list’s inception. Another pair of colleagues ranked third and fourth, Sydney duo Dave Greiner and Ben Richardson posting $500 million via their email marketing firm, Campaign Monitor. Tech investor Simon Clausen, worth $487 million, came in at fifth.

The list, which measures the prosperity of the 100 richest Australians aged 40 and under who have not inherited their wealth, added 23 new names this year. Six of them were women including Carolyn Creswell, owner of the Carman’s muesli brand, who ranked as the richest young woman and the 25th richest overall with a total wealth of $83 million.

The youngest person on the list was 18 year old Summly creator Nick D’Aloisio, who is now worth $23 million after he sold his summarisation app to Yahoo last year. If he wants he can now celebrate Schoolies on the moon. Or maybe Paris. Either way, we’re not at all happy for him.
