The Most Talked About Photo From The G7 Summit Has Gone Full Meme

Out of all the official photos surfacing from the 2018 G7 Summit, there’s one in particular posted on German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Instagram that’s copping a lot of attention.

In case ya missed it, the leaders of Germany, Canada, Japan, United States, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom have come together to talk global issues. This year, quite a bit happened like US President Donald Trump asking for Russia to be readmitted to the summit although Merkel was having none of it. Russia was kicked out in 2014 because of its occupation of Crimea.

Trade was a massive issue at this year’s summit with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Trump butting heads. Trump called Trudeau “meek and mild” and “dishonest and weak” in a tweet for his stance on tariffs.

The photo, posted by Merkel’s spokesman Steffen Seibert, was captioned:

“Day two of the G7 summit in Canada: spontaneous meeting between two working sessions.”

A picture really does say a thousand words. Take the man standing between Merkel and Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, for instance. He just looks so positively unimpressed with the whole matter. Then you carry your eyes toward the border of the picture and spot French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Theresa May.

There were other pictures of the same moment including President Macron’s:

But it’s Merkel’s that’s undoubtedly the most striking.

So with the internet being the internet – memes, paintings, and captions are happening.
