Huge congratulations to Patrick Stevenson, who has taken out the inaugural ‘2011 Ray-Ban Photo of the Year’ title with his nude, sweaty and cathartic live image of LMFAO playing their sold-out Stereosonic warm up shows.
The 2011 Ray-Ban Photography Awards launched in September of this year to award the year’s best photos across four categories: Music, Fashion, Social and Mobile. The winners were announced last night at an event held at The Depot Gallery in Woolloomooloo, Sydney.
Stevenson, a Sydney-based photographer, was handpicked as the winner of the competition, which ran over three months and gathered more than 65,000 votes from the general public. In addition to a shiny trophy and the kudos of shooting the 2011 Ray-Ban Photo of the Year, Stevenson will enjoy a VIP trip to Las Vegas including Flights, limo transfers, 5 nights’ accommodation at the Tropicana Hotel and a helicopter ride out to the Grand Canyon.
The individual category winners will receive prizes consisting of of Ray-Ban packs and professional Nikon camera equipment valued at more than $3,000 each.

“I took this photo inside a shop down in Melbourne and it was very much a spur of the moment thing. I looked up and saw the dome and pulled my phone out and quickly snapped a pic. I was actually on a moving escalator when I took this pic, so had it been 5 seconds later the photo might have turned out completely different.”

Nick Zinner – Guitarist for Grammy-nominated New York band the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and acclaimed photographer.
Jamie Huckbody – Former Harpers BAZAAR Australia Editor in Chief. He has worked with some of the biggest fashion magazines in the world including ELLE, i-D and Russh.
Alyssa Sutherland – One of Australia’s top models for over 12 years, Alyssa has worked for Calvin Klein, Chanel and Vogue.
Andrea Klarin – Internationally renowned French Photographer who regularly shoots for Vogue (French, Italian, UK & US) as well as shooting blue chip brand campaigns for Nike, Valentino and Lanvin. Grace Jones and Lady Gaga have also had their portraits snapped by her.
Tony Mott – Legendary Australian music photographer. He has shot and toured with the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan and Silverchair. His photos have graced over 450 album covers and appeared in 700+ magazines.
