Tame Impala Drop Their First Track Since 2015 And It’s A Psych-Disco Bop

Tame Impala have rounded out the 9-5 work week with their first music since 2015’s Currents and its companion b-sides and rarities released in 2017.

Following up on an album whose second track is literally called ‘Nangs‘, Kevin Parker teased the new song’s release an hour before the drop, over on Instagram.

The track, ‘Patience‘, is laden with upbeat disco piano vibes; you can really picture the crowds of Coachella and Lollapalooza bopping along to this one with a single finger in the air, pointing along to the beat.

There are bongos (!!) or congas (!!!) carrying along that finger-pointing beat, and it’s like Kevin Parker is bringing forth the next resurgence of 70s relaxed lounge disco vibes – a perfect soundtrack to the return of tailored flares and everything corduroy.

It’s going to shape up to be fantastic driving music, or cooking music, or something to nod your head to when you’re lounging in the autumn sun with a glass/bottle of wine on a Sunday afternoon. How long are we betting until this track is used in a slow-mo travel ad for your next Palm Springs getaway…in the 70s.

Knock this one right up to eleven and declare an afternoon of jiving along to this in the golden hours of your Friday, Tame Impala are back and better than ever.
