Tame Impala Has Posted Some Cryptic Shit Online But What Does It All MEAN

It looks like Kevin Parker is up to something again. Overnight, the Tame Impala website uploaded a video and everyone’s gone into full panic stations trying to nail down what it all means.

Over on the official Tame website, a initially starts on a fuzzy loop, showing different parts of the recording process for Tame, rotating through a shot of Kevin turning some dials on a big synth thingo, to an oscilloscope showing soundwaves, and a big mixing panel.

Kev is then seen walking across the studio as part of the loop, which repeats over and over a couple of times before settling on a shot of him recording atmospheric sounds besides the ocean. Looks a little something like this:

Hang on a second, I’ve seen that studio before.

The plot…thickens?

I mean clearly this indicates that Tame Impala is back in the studio, right? They’re obviously working on the follow-up to 2015’s Currents, and maybe the album that features recent-enough singles ‘Patience’ and ‘Borderline’, which dropped right before their huge sets at Coachella earlier this year.

Look, five years between albums is probably more than enough time for Kev and co. to go sideways on enough field recordings and sounds to produce a whole new show of mind-bending music and accompanied lights/lasers/visuals.

The website is looking like out biggest and only clue as to what the hell Tame Impala has been up to all year apart from headlining both Coachella and Splendour In The Grass, so we’ll let you know as soon as we find out more.

2020’s shaping up to be a biggun, I can feel it in me waters. Just gotta let it happen, I guess.
