Simone Biles’ Brother Arrested On Triple Murder Charges After NYE Party Shooting In Ohio

The brother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles has been charged with the alleged murder of three people at an Airbnb in Cleveland, according to Time.

Tevin Biles-Thomas is facing three counts of murder along with assault and perjury charges for his alleged shooting on New Years Eve in Cleveland.

The 24-year-old is the brother of Olympic gold medalist and gymnastics icon, Simone Biles, who made headlines for her history-making routines earlier this month. He is also on active duty with the US Army.

Devaughn Gibson, 23, DelVaunte Johnson, 19, and Toshon Banks, 21 died in the shooting on New Years Eve, with two other people treated for injuries. The alleged attack took place at an Airbnb in Cleveland after an “uninvited group” entered the property and “an altercation ensued” between them and Biles-Thomas.

Prosecutor in the case Michael C. O’Malley commended the investigators on their relentless efforts that led to Tevin’s arrest.

“The relentless persistence of Cleveland police homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” O’Malley said in a statement. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams shared a similar sentiment in a statement following the arrest.

“The investigators within the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit remained committed to securing an arrest in this tragic case,” Williams said in a statement. “We appreciate our partnership with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and are confident that their efforts will bring justice for the families affected by this terrible incident.”

So far, Tevin is the only person to be arrested for the shooting, and will face court on September 13 at Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. He is currently in custody at Liberty County Jail awaiting trial.

Simone is yet to publicly comment on the case, but shared the following cryptic tweet on August 28.
