School Cleaner Confesses To Rape & Murder Of NSW Teacher Stephanie Scott

The school cleaner accused of raping and killing NSW high school teacher Stephanie Scott has just pleaded guilty to both charges.

Vincent Stanford, 25, officially entered a guilty plea in a NSW Supreme Court this morning, where he appeared via videolink from Long Bay prison.

Ms Scott disappeared on April 5 last year from Leeton High School where she taught, just days before she was due to be married. Her burnt body was found by police 70km away in the Cocoparra National Park, five days later.

Stanford was arrested four days after Ms Scott’s disappearance and later charged with murder, aggravated sexual assault and inflicting actual bodily harm. His twin brother Marcus was also arrested and charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. He pleaded guilty in March this year.

Vincent Stanford be sentenced within a week of his sentencing hearing set for October 11, Justice Robert Allan Hulme told the court.

Ms Scott’s family were in court to witness the plea, but didn’t comment afterwards.
