Police Find Body In Stephanie Scott Murder Case

In a tragic turn of events, police have found a body believed to be that of missing school teacher Stephanie Scott in Cocoparra National Park, just north of Griffith, NSW.

Per reports in Fairfax and elsewhere, the body was discovered off a remote gravel road just after 5pm Friday, and was recovered and taken out of the park in the early hours of this morning.
It is believed that the national park was a regular camping spot for the family of Scott’s accused killer, 24-year-old cleaner Vincent Stanford. Stanford’s family have been helping police with their inquiries.
Early yesterday, police divers discovered a laptop in an irrigation channel on the outskirts of Scott’s home town of Leeton, after reports that a man had been seen dumping it there on Easter Sunday.
Ms Scott’s red Mazda was found dumped on a property in the area, and a gasoline canister, believed to be connected with the case, was discovered a few kilometers away.
Sanford was arrested and charged with murder on Thursday, after police found blood in his white Toyota Hilux, and images believed to be of Scott’s remains. He’s expected to face court in June.
Scott was due to marry her fiance today, and her family have instead decided to honour her memory during a picnic lunch today. Our thoughts are with her loved ones.
