Racist Trolls Hijack Star Wars Hype With #BoycottStarWarsVII


Forget Jar Jar. Forget midichlorians. The worst thing to happen to the latest Star Wars film is the hashtag #BoycottStarWarsVII. 

For some godforsaken reason, people – actual, real people – have decided that in 2015, the the latest installment of the sci-fi behemoth actually entails a battle for ‘white supremacy’. And that these thoughts should spill over onto Twitter.
Behold:

Not even a fortnight ago, the instantly iconic John Boyega had a spray at these sorts of racist critics, saying People of colour and women are increasingly being shown on-screen. For things to be whitewashed just doesn’t make sense.”  

“I’m in the movie. What are you going to do about it?”

It’s all nail-meet-head stuff, obviously, and the franchise wouldn’t miss these guys anyway. Still, the fact that the effort was put in to cause such a stir over something so dumb is still pretty terrible.

Fortunately, there is an equal and opposite reaction to every dipstick with a keyboard:

And order was returned to the Force.
