A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…Sorry let me start again because there’s no conceivable way to segue out of that introduction. Quite recently in a country not that far away (Hong Kong) an illustrator named John Woo combined the disparate forces of Star Wars and men’s fashion in a series of sartorially spiffy illustrations dubbed He Wears It.
The unfortunately named Woo who didn’t direct Broken Arrow, Face/Off or Mission: Impossible 2, is a self-taught illustrator and designer whose most recent work re-imagines Star Wars icons as preppy Manhattan gentlemen. Think Darth Vader in Band Of Outsiders, Storm Troopers in Thom Browne and Jar Jar Binks in Maison Martin Margiela. Unfortunately Woo missed his opportunity to depict Yoda in APC kidswear or C3PO in Balenciaga robot leggings but we’ll praise anything that makes Jar Jar Binks slightly more likable. Emphasis on slightly.
