Woman Files Lawsuit Against R. Kelly For Sexual Battery, False Imprisonment

R. Kelly has been sued for sexual battery, false imprisonment, and for not informing a sexual partner of an STD, TMZ reports.

The claimant, a woman named Faith Rodgers, alleges she met the singer at a 2017 concert in San Antonio, Texas. The suit claims Kelly flew her to his concert in New York City several months later, and put her up in a hotel during her stay.

Rodgers alleges Kelly entered her hotel room after the show, and that he engaged in “unwanted sexual contact” and “abusive sex.”

She claims the pair then entered a relationship for a year, in which Kelly allegedly locked her in rooms for “failing to fulfil his sexual desires,” and that Kelly enlisted a female confidante to ensure Rodgers was unable to leave.

Rodgers also alleges she contracted herpes from Kelly.

Kelly’ lawyers have not yet responded to several media outlets’ requests for comment.

The suit comes after separate allegations Kelly has exerted psychological and sexual control over a host of young women, effectively keeping them within a cult-like environment.

In response to the #MuteRKelly campaign, a representative for Kelly said “soon it will become clear Mr. Kelly is the target of a greedy, conscious and malicious conspiracy to demean him, his family and the women with whom he spends his time.”
