Two Queensland Men Charged With Murder Over 2017 Woodchipper Death

Two men have been charged with the alleged murder of Nambour man Bruce Saunders, after authorities deemed his death by woodchipper was suspicious.

A woman has also been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

The Courier-Mail reports Greg Roser, 59, and Peter Koenig, 61, were each hit with one count of murder and of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Investigators initially believed the Saunders’ death was the result of a tragic accident when he was pulled into the machine last November.

At the time, Gympie Police acting inspector Paul Algie said two male friends who were working with Saunders unsuccessfully tried to extricate him from the woodchipper.

Algie described the Goomboorian property as “one of the worst incident scenes I’ve ever seen”.

The men and other witnesses underwent further interviews in February.

Later, investigators seized several “items of interest” and declared the death to be the subject of a homicide investigation.

News.com.au reported a potential love triangle may have formed an angle of inquiry into the death.

Roser and Koenig are scheduled to face Maroochydore Magistrates Court later today.
