Well this is intensely awful in just about every conceivable way. A Queensland man has died after reportedly falling into a woodchipper at a property in Gympie, around 160km north of Brisbane.
QLD Police confirmed the deceased man was assisting a group of others to clear a driveway at around 7:45pm Sunday night when the incident occurred.
The 54-year-old man was said to have been operating the woodchipper when he fell into it.
QLD Workplace Health and Safety have launched an investigation into the incident and, in a profoundly grim note, the Disaster Victim Identification Squad has joined forensic officials at the site of the incident today.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
No other details regarding the incident are available at this time.
