Fact: Marrying into the royal family is no small undertaking. Between the lengthy obligations and intense media scrutiny, any potential royal is rigorously assessed to make sure they’re up to the task. And that’s exactly what happened with Meghan Markle.
Aside from gaining Queen Elizabeth II‘s approval for marriage, Meghan was also the hot topic of discussion between Prince Harry and Prince William.
The Sun – oracle of nameless royal sources – reports that, what started out as a casual chat between the two bros about Meghan turned pretty bloody heated.
“William told his brother they knew nothing about her background, her intentions, what she was really like,” an insider said.
But rather than criticising Meghan, the source claims William “just wanted to stress that becoming part of the Royal Family is a massive undertaking and the pressure and scrutiny is unrelenting. Was Meghan the right one?”
Harry, however, reportedly kicked off at his bro’s speculation.

“Harry went mental,” the source said. “He accused his brother of trying to finish his romance before it had begun.”
Oooooft. Seems like a slight overreaction from old mate, right?
The insider adds that “the brothers’ relationship has not really recovered.”
Another source explains that there might actually be a very good explanation for Harry’s hectic response.
Apart from obviously loving Meghan a LOT, the insider suggests Harry might be overly protective of her after what happened to Princess Diana.
Back in 1997, Diana tragically passed away in a car accident in Paris after she was hounded by the paparazzi. Harry has since spoken about how he blames the paps for his mother’s passing:
“One of the hardest things to come to terms with is the people who chased her into the tunnel were the same people who were taking photographs of her while she was still dying on the back seat of the car,” Harry told the BBC in 2017.
“She’d had quite a severe head injury but she was very much alive on the back seat. And those people that caused the accident instead of helping were taking photographs of her dying on the back seat.”
The palace source suggests that Harry’s treatment of Meghan is a direct result of what happened to Diana.
“It’s my opinion that Harry feels he couldn’t protect his mother, so he’s going all out to protect his wife. This is his way of atoning.”
