19-year-old University student Michal Szewczuk was jailed for four years and three months on charges pertaining to the encouragement of terrorism, after he posted a spate of memes to the deeply racist far-right social media platform Gab last summer.

In one of the posts, Szewczuk posted an image of Prince Harry against a blood-spattered background with a gun aimed at his head. A swastika was reportedly also present in the image, as was Szewczuk’s accompanying caption “See Ya Later Race Traitor.”

That post came in the months following Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, whose mother is African-American.

In addition, courts heard the contents of several blog posts Szewczuk posted that reportedly gave justification to the rape of women and children in order to further an Aryan master race.

Szewczuk was sentenced alongside fellow Polish national Oskar Dunn-Koczorowski, 18, who also pleaded guilty to charges of encouraging terrorism, receiving an 18-month prison term. Szewczuk’s sentence was far more severe due to additional charges of possessing material likely to be useful to someone planning a terrorist act.

In sentencing the pair, Judge Rebecca Poulet stated “the posts I have seen and read are abhorrent as well as criminal by reason of their clear intention to encourage terrorist acts,” and that through the posts “individuals were urged to go out and commit appalling acts of violence on others for no reason that can ever be understood by any right thinking individuals.

Due to their age, the duo will serve out their sentences at a Young Offenders Institution in the UK.
