QLD Police took a 47-year-old man and his 23-year-old partner – believed to be the parents – into custody after they were located in Broadbeach with a four-year-old boy, who has since been taken into child protection services.

The father is expected to be extradited to NSW today, as it’s believed the infant child died south of the QueenslandNew South Wales border, and the mother has been removed from custody for mental health assessment.

As reported by the ABC, authorities allege that the child was “sacrificed” near Jack Evans Boat Harbour near the mouth of the Tweed River, where her pram was found after the father allegedly told police that his daughter was “possessed by demons.”

Tracked CCTV footage apparently shows the four family members travelling from the Gold Coast to Tweed Heads over the weekend, and police have obtained images of three of them returning to Coolangatta.

It has also been reported that the mother was allegedly aware of the plan to “sacrifice” the child, but only the father will be accused of carrying out the plan.

The location where authorities suspect the child was placed in the water is approximately 30km south of where her body was found, and it is believed that the child may have spent two days in the ocean before washing ashore.
