Police Confirm 3 Dead & 20 Injured After Man Drives Into Pedestrians In Melb

Three people are dead and another 20 are injured after a man deliberately drove into pedestrians at Melbourne‘s Bourke Street Mall earlier this afternoon, Victoria Police have confirmed.

Addressing media today, police said that the incident is connected to a stabbing that occurred in the Melbourne suburb of Windsor earlier today, which left a man in his 20s in a critical condition.

Police have arrested the suspect, and confirmed there is no further danger to the public. People are being urged to avoid the CBD.

It is not believed to be a terror-related incident.

Police also confirmed that the suspect is the same man who was seeing doing burnouts outside of Flinders Street Station a short time earlier.

Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne are treating four patients from today’s incident, one of whom is in a critical condition.

UPDATE: There are unconfirmed reports that a baby is among the dead.



Photos of the baby’s pram were circulated widely on Twitter. It is not clear if the baby was among the three people already reported deceased.
