Shots Fired & Multiple Pedestrians Hit During Police Chase In Melbourne CBD

UPDATE: One person has been confirmed dead and 20 people have been injured in the incident.

Shots have reportedly been fired and several pedestrians have been hit during a police chase along Melbourne‘s Bourke Street.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics are treating a number of people at the scene.

Witnesses say they saw a car speeding along Bourke St before mounting the footpath near Elizabeth St and hitting several pedestrians.

Witness Rainbow Vekios told the Herald Sun she saw a man doing burnouts and hanging out the window.

“The police came and he started speeding down Swanston Street. I saw one person getting CPR and another being treated.

“It’s all so hard to take in. It’s like something out of a movie. I’m very shaken up.”

It looks like a person may have been apprehended.

Police have closed off Bourke St between Williams and Swanston, and are advising people to avoid the area.

More to come.
