Kids waiting to see the new Peppa Pig film were reportedly left traumatised after a British cinema accidentally screened trailers for upcoming horror flicks Ma and Brightburn.

BBC reports furious parents confronted staff at Empire Cinema in Ipswich, England, when the harrowing footage was presented before a screening of Peppa Pig: Festival Of Fun.

One parent told the outlet her two-year-old daughter was left confused and withdrawn after seeing the trailer for Brightburn, which features a particularly creepy mask.

“I tried to cover her eyes during the trailers and told her they were silly films for mummies and daddies, but there were lots of kids crying and she was very confused and started crying too,” Charlie Jones said.

Before we go on, we really must provide some context for all of this. Have a peek at the trailer for the Peppa Pig film, which is billed as, well, a festival of fun:

And here are trailers for the other two flicks:

Not ideal!

A spokesperson for Empire Cinema says staff worked to rid the big screen of that gnarly content as soon as the issue was raised, and apologised to parents and kids impacted by the incident.

Stunningly, this is not the first time trailers for modern horror flicks have been inflicted on innocent eyes. Last year, a Perth cinema aired a trailer for Hereditary before a screening of Peter Rabbit.

At the very least, watching horror trailers is probably better than the brain-melting shit which dominates the kid-centric dungeons of YouTube.
