Unless you’ve lived under a rock for the past few years, you’ve probably heard of the #FreetheNipple social media movement.
It’s mainly about getting pissy at Instagram and other image-based social media sites that allow men’s areolas and nipples, but for some reason, it isn’t cool for women to show theirs – even though they are exactly the same body part.
We posted about this revolutionary template, created by LA artist Micol Hebron, earlier this week, showing that if women cover their own nipples with a male nipple – lo and behold, no one is offended! Crazy.
Orange is the New Black star Matt McGorry (A.K.A. corrections officer John Bennett) is refreshingly outspoken on social media on the topic of gender equality, and is an ardent and self-proclaimed feminist ally. He decided that he would switch this gendered nipple debate upside-down, by pasting one of Miley Cyrus’ and one of Chrissy Teigen‘s nipples on to his own shirtless photo:

Weirdly enough, it hasn’t been deleted. It’s almost like the appearance of the nipple isn’t actually the issue; institutionalised sexualisation of women is. That’s some excellent ally-ing, McGorry. Photoshop skills need some work, though.
