NT Eatery Takes ‘Chocolate Slut’ Dessert Off Its Menu, Cops Mass Complaints

Chocolate, on a dessert menu? Hardly groundbreaking.
You know what is, though: calling said dish ‘chocolate slut’.
Popular Darwin restaurant Pee Wee’s at the Point has had ‘Chocolate Slut’ – a Belgian dark chocolate marquise with aerated chocolate, chocolate meringue, chocolate macaroon, raspberry gel, white chocolate and raspberry ice cream – on its menu for the past 15 years, but recently changed it after a large Sydney client took offence and cancelled its $25,000 function booking.
Owners Simon and Lily Matthews were told the word ‘slut’ was inappropriate “given the topical nature of domestic violence and violence against women”, which initially they balked at.

“My first impression was that they could get lost, but then I became quite conciliatory towards it and diplomatic and I saw their side of the argument,” said Simon. “We don’t want to be seen as some redneck business that is derogatory towards women.”
They changed the dessert’s name to ‘Fifty Shades of Chocolate’ but, because this is the Northern Territory, Pee Wee’s regulars are pissed they can no longer order ‘Chocolate Slut’.

“Since we’ve changed it we’ve had 50 complaints from our local customers saying, ‘where’s the slut?’ basically.”

Has a more amazing sentence ever been spoken?
