NSW Mummy Blogger To Face Court For Allegedly Poisoning Daughter With Urine

A former ‘mummy blogger’ from New South Wales is set to stand trial for allegedly poisoning her own daughter with urine injected into her jugular vein.

News.com.au reports the nine-year-old was frequently admitted to hospital due to her poor health, and that the Hunter Valley woman ran a now-deleted site featuring posts about her health issues.

The woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was charged in 2015 after yeast and fungus were found growing in her daughter’s intravenous drip.

A Crown case statement said those findings “were highly suggestive of deliberate contamination of [the] central line by injection of urine.”

After the girl was admitted to hospital with renal failure, law enforcement authorities allegedly discovered syringes and urine samples in the woman’s bag, spurring further investigation.

Authorities also allege the woman fed her daughter laxatives, causing notable skin conditions.

The girl has been removed from her mother’s care. The Crown case statement said that her improving health “confirmed that the majority of her previous problematic medical issues were not the result of an underlying medical condition.”

The woman, who denies intentionally making her daughter sick, has been charged with using poison to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

She will appear before the NSW District Court in Newcastle today.
