There’s never been a contestant on an Aussie reality TV series that’s displayed such raw, brutal heartbreak on screen quite like Nikki Gogan. The runner up to Alex Nation during Richie Strahan‘s season of The Bachelor, Nikki broke hearts globally when Richie dumped her in front of millions during the season finale.
Since then, Nikki’s returned to her hometown in WA, continuing to work in real estate. It’s during an inspection that she met “Matthew”, a guy she dated for 8 months.
Nikki spoke to New Idea about the ordeal, explaining that she met Matthew when he showed up to one of her property inspections. He pretended to own expensive properties around Perth, and showed up to more of her inspections – each time driving a different pricey sports car.
He allegedly gave Nikki many expensive gifts, and their relationship developed to the point where he even attended the Gogan fam Christmas lunch.
However, shortly after Christmas Nikki found out via another Perth-based woman that Matthew was full of shit, and that this woman’s story regarding him was almost exactly the same.
A friend of Nikki’s also told New Idea that all the sports cars were borrowed or rented.
‘I had no reason not to believe what I was seeing and being told. It makes you really wonder how trusting you are when you realise how you accepted this big, elaborate story that ended up having so many holes,’ she told New Idea.
According to New Idea, Matthew is known as a ‘serial conman’ in Perth circles. Wild.
Still, Nikki seems to be doing okay if Instagram is anything to go by. Which, well, it’s not (social media is FAKE open your eyes SHEEPLE) but still. Props to her for making it through another wild heartbreak.
