Continuing the complete disaster that is the ’60 Minutes’ Beirut story – where the program helped a mother find her children who were taken by their father to Lebanon – is the revelation that the mother, Sally Faulkner, has been arrested and the children handed back their father.
There’s no information at this point as to whether she gave herself up to Beirut police voluntarily.
This has been a escalating disaster for ’60 Minutes’: the team, including veteran journo Tara Brown, was detained and is still in custody and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade are working hard to provide consular assistance.
The program has reportedly hired a team of lawyers to negotiate their release. We’ll keep you updated on this story as updates come in.
