If this million-dollar Kickstarter campaign is anything to go by, being somewhat annoyed at boring and ubiquitous bicycle accessories is a license to print money – and inadvertently make the most progress in Australian cycling culture since Nicole Kidman’s turn in BMX Bandits.
The boffins at Aussie firm Knog hit that seven-figure milestone today for their radical take on the humble ol’ bicycle bell. Fair warning, even if you’re not a pedal-pusher, you might be inclined to drop some coin on one of their cutely-titled, snazzily-designed Oi bells.
According to The Age, the project was only looking for a cool $20K in the beginning, after the company obviously misjudged the public’s desire for modern noise-makers.
The Melbourne company’s co-founder Hugo Davidson said the flood of funding will be used to spruik the things and develop them further after they drop to anxious backers in July.
