Melbs & Brissy Can’t Catch A Break As Wild Weather Bones Public Transport

The public transportation systems of both Melbourne and Brisbane have copped a bollocking due to some seriously dodgy weather in both corners of the country.

Melbourne train commuters have been met with significant delays and outright cancellations in the aftermath of yesterday’s heavy storms

As is stands, all services on the beleaguered Pakenham and Sandringham lines have been suspended, with major delays on the Frankston and Werribee routes.
Currently, some trains are so crowded that reports of passengers fainting have emerged.

It wasn’t too great over in Queensland, either. Brisbane awoke to find itself utterly submerged in fog, which made the lives of ferry passengers v. difficult. TransLink reported delays of ten minutes for its CityCat services, and looking at the photos, it’s easy to understand why.

Things seem to be clearing up over there, but we may be waiting a while for Melbourne’s transport system to pick itself back up. If you’re impacted by the delays, follow MetroTrains for further updates.
