Man’s Body Found Off Bondi Beach Days After US Student Goes Missing

A man’s body has been found in the surf off Bondi Beach, days after a US student was reported missing close by.

NSW Police report the body was discovered at around 8am this morning, 450m off the shoreline. Marine Area Command retrieved the body, which has not yet been identified.

A report is currently being prepared for the Coroner, ahead of a full forensic examination to determine whether the body is that of 20-year-old American Endicott Ackerman.

Ackerman was seen jumping into heavy surf south of the Icebergs on Monday, during the tail-end of the brutal storm system that hit the east coast.

At the time, witnesses claimed “he just jumped in when the waves were going out and when the waves came in again he went under and couldn’t keep up.”

The air, land and sea search for Ackerman was suspended on Wednesday.

Officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command are asking any witnesses of the incident to come forward; they’ve also reminded anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
