Man Refused Bail After One-Punch Assault on Younger Brother

A man who allegedly hit his brother on the street in Kings Cross in the early hours of this morning, leaving him in hospital in critical condition, has been refused bail for his part in the one-punch assault.

ABC News report that Barry Lyttle, an Irish tourist in Australia on a family holiday, appeared before Parramatta Court this morning on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm.
NSW Police say that Barry, 33, and his brother Richard, 31, arrived in the country three days ago, accompanied by their father, on a trip from their home in Northern Ireland.
Allegedly, it was an argument between the brothers that led to the punch, on Bayswater Road in Kings Cross, just after 3.00am.
“This is a tragedy,” said Michael Fitzgerald of the NSW Police. “I’ve spoken to their father at hospital this morning. The pain the father is suffering now cannot be explained in words as a result of a one-punch attack from one brother to another.”
“This was caused by one punch and we now have a father who is facing the reality of one son facing serious criminal charges and another son fighting for his life.”
Patrick suffered serious head injuries, and per ABC News, he has undergone emergency surgery and remains in a “critical but stable” condition in St Vincent’s Hospital.
