Younger Brother Victim Of King Hit Regains Consciousness In Sydney

After the worst was feared for Irish backpacking tourist Patrick Lyttle, 31, who was the victim of a king hit punch delivered by his older brother Barry Lyttle in a tragic and thoughtless incident in Sydney last Saturday, reports are now surfacing that the assault victim has made an incredible turnaround in St Vincent’s hospital, having regained consciousness from a coma.

The news is an absolute silver lining to what has been a horrific story to follow in the past week. It was announced earlier this week that Barry Lyttle will not be facing the mandatory minimum sentence that is typically dealt for king hit assaults, considering that his blood alcohol reading was under the 0.15 BAC threshold for the law to be charged.

ABC reports that Patrick Lyttle had been traveling around the country before his brother and father met him in Sydney last week before the incident. NSW police stated after the incident, “This was caused by one punch and we now have a father who is facing the
reality of one son facing serious criminal charges and another son
fighting for his life.”

Although coward hits such as these seem to be rendered into tragic headlines far too often, Patrick Lyttle’s progress is some good news in a king hit case, for once.

Barry Lyttle, according to ABC reports, was granted bail on Tuesday, along with further conditions such as surrendering his passport and providing a $2000 surety.
