“Malcolmore” Is The Turnbull/Thrift Shop Mash-Up You Never Knew You Needed

It’s a new golden age of political satire in Australia at the moment, fuelled by a fertile Coalition Government and a limp opposition that provides ample fodder very much on the reg.

Some of the satire being produced is extremely subtle, nuanced, deftly crafted by the hands of burgeoning masters. The kind of stuff they’ll teach in comedy writing classes decades into the future. Textbook-type stuff.
And then there’s the kind of satire that exists because the obvious gag is way too hard to ignore.
I mean… MALCOLMORE.
It writes itself.
So here’s the Comedy Channel‘s old guard/new guard sketch-show Open Slather doing exactly that – throwing a fur coat on a Malcolm Turnbull impersonator (shout out to Dave Eastgate for the bang-on cadence and oddly hypnotic gyration) and just fucking well going for it because “if we don’t do it, someone else will.”

Whoever that found that absolute DEAD RINGER Joe Hockey-lookalike needs a hefty and immediate pay rise.
