Kevin Spacey Reportedly Seeking Treatment Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

It has been an intense week for House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey.

To recap, on October 30thStar Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp went on the record to accuse Spacey of making an unwanted sexual advance on him when he was only 14 years old.

Within a matter of hours, Spacey addressed the allegations… by coming out as gay in an “apology” posted to Twitter:

His decision to respond to serious sexual assault allegations by revealing his sexuality has been widely criticised, with many openly gay actors and personalities condemning Spacey for what many are seeing as trivialising pedophilia and using his sexuality to excuse his past actions.

And now, as Variety reports, reps have confirmed Spacey is seeking treatment in light of the furore.

“Kevin Spacey is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment,” said his representative in a statement to Variety.

“No other information is available at this time.”

Yesterday, we learnt that production of the sixth and final series of House of Cards was being halted in light of the allegations. Variety also reached out to Netflix and Media Rights Capital, and they responded with the following statement:

“We view Kevin seeking treatment as a positive step. We continue to take this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the production and have nothing further to share at this time.”

As accusations of improper conduct continue to mount against Spacey, more and more production houses are severing ties with the American Beauty actor. The latest? Satirical website The Onion have opted to can a promotional video they recently shot with Spacey.
