Jetstar’s Computers Went Down, Just in Time for Christmas

Sensing it was going to be a hugely busy pre-Christmas travel day and deciding it wanted precisely none of that drama, Jetstar’s computer system went ahead and crashed this morning, leading to huge delays across the network.
The Sydney Morning Herald report that at one point, Jetstar’s computers were so comprehensively unwilling to play ball that staff were forced to process passengers manually using fax machines (we’re not sure how or why that’s a thing but sure).
Though the system is now back online, the damage has been done – flights have been delayed for 60 to 90 minutes across the Australia and New Zealand network, with a knock-on effect meaning likely delays all through Saturday.
Passengers travelling with Jetstar today have been advised to check the status of their flights on the Jetstar website.

Happy trails, everyone, and if you’re stuck in a terminal somewhere, remember it’s never too early for a beverage or two at the bar, because pre-lunchtime drinking doesn’t count if you’re in transit.
