Influential Prime Minister Julia Gillard Tops List of Most Influential Australian Politicians

Today in Obviously, Duh, influential-list mainstay Prime Minister Julia Gillard has topped The Australian’s list of the Top 50 Most Influential People In Australian Politics.

Writes The Australian, “in an election year, despite the competing claims of Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd, the most influential can only be one person – the PM.

Julia Gillard retains the overwhelming influence of the office of prime minister.”
In this veritable who’s who of Canberra’s koolest kids – a dream guest-list that only a chosen few will claw their way to the top of – the Prime Minister is followed closely, and unsurprisingly, by Opposition Leader Tony Abbott, Treasurer Wayne Swan, and television muse with X-Factor in spades, Kevin Rudd.
Of the awesome foursome featured here, The Australian predicts that only one will rise in influence over the coming year; only one retains the little green ascendent arrow next to his name while all others are tarred with an inverted scarlet A, betoken of a foreseen downward spiral in political popularity. The only politician in the Top 5 predicted to experience a rise in influence this election year is The Hon. Anthony John Abbott, MP.
Sometimes a man rises from the darkness. Sometimes the pit sends something back.
