Julia Gillard Will Remain As Prime Minister

Kevin Rudd is heading to the backbench after being trounced by Julia Gillard in today’s ballot for the Labor Party leadership. Gillard received a decisive 71 votes from Caucus members versus Rudd’s 31. Rudd has promised that he’ll make no further efforts to challenge the Labor leadership, which means Julia Gillard will be repping the party at the next election (scheduled for the second half of 2013).

Today the Labor Party may have found some resolution but there’s no denying the government is in all kinds of trouble insofar as public perception is concerned. In fact a public poll revealed that, prior to today’s ballot, voters would prefer Rudd as PM over Gillard. However News Poll has Opposition Leader Tony Abbott as the favoured leader over Julia Gillard.

What say you, young voters? Who would you rather in a Julia Gillard Versus Tony Abbott showdown?
