Influencer Caroline Calloway Announces Death Of Her Father Amid Week Of Drama

Caroline Calloway, the Instagram influencer who captured the attention of the world this week after her ghostwriter published a now-viral essay, has made an emotional post confirming the death of her father.

“Today. I got the call an hour ago,” she wrote.

“The cause of death is unknown. I’m worried by even telling this I will cheapen the truth – make this moment into another ‘notorious misfortunate’ of mine as the New York Times called them.”

“If this media shitstorm WASN’T blowing up right now, I would use my grief to make things that mean things to people. You can call what I’m doing performance art, but it is only a performance when I fail to express honestly what I am feeling.

“And what I’m feeling right now is shock.”

The announcement came on the same day that Calloway responded to the essay written by former ghostwriter Natalie Beach in an interview with NBC News.

“The thing that shocked me most about her article was how confident she thought I was,” said Calloway.

“I was like, ‘You’re the most confident person I know. What the fuck is this? I’m the hot friend? You’ve got to get hotter friends.”

While maintaining that Beach was an artist and fantastic writer, Calloway pushed back against Beach’s use of her “struggle with suicide in the punch line of a joke,” saying it was mischaracterised.

“She’s a really thoughtful writer and that line really slipped by her and she was thoughtless in that moment,” said Calloway.

Calloway has swerved in and out of the media spotlight for years, having originally made headlines for her infamous failed $350,000 book deal she reneged on citing sexism. Earlier this year, the influencer’s disastrously planned workshop events where the subject of renewed criticism following a series of pulled dates, failed promises, and bad reviews.
