Hot Tip: It’s Freaking Cold In Victoria Today

Seriously, you guys. It’s cold as shit in Victoria today. The mercury has yet to break 10 degrees in Melbourne all day and it looks like staying that way, making it the city’s coldest day of the year. Consistent rain and hail have fallen across the city as a particularly nasty cold front whips up high winds that have battered outer-lying suburbs.

But Melbourne isn’t even copping the worst of it. Regional centres across the state have spent the day marvelling as a blanketing of snow falls far lower than usual, turning Ballarat into a complete winter wonderland.

The conditions haven’t been confined to just Ballarat either. Nearby town Daylesford, as well as the Grampians and Macedon Ranges are all blanketed in white today. Even the usual seaside town of Lorne has had a heavy dusting, with snowfall reported mere kilometres from the beach. The Falls Festival Instagram account posted this photo of the site of their annual festival taking on an entirely new look.

The proper winter weather is expected to ease over the next day or so, though. Leading into an infuriatingly pleasant stretch of sunny, warmish days starting from Monday. Because apparently we just cannot have nice things on the weekend in winter.
Rug up, kids! It’s gonna be a chilly night.
