St Kilda Great Danny Frawley Dies In Car Crash Near Ballarat

Danny Frawley passes away at 56.

Veteran AFL player and media figure Danny Frawley has died in a car accident, just one day after his 56th birthday.

In a statement, Victoria Police said they were investigating a fatal single-car crash that happened around 1:30pm in Millbrook, just outside of Ballarat. According to Vic Police, the vehicle “left the road and struck a tree at the intersection of Old Melbourne and Sullivans Road”, with the cause of the crash unclear. The driver, later identified as Frawley, died at the scene.

Frawley played 240 games for St Kilda, 11 games for Victoria, and coached Richmond from 2000 to 2004, taking the team to the preliminary finals in 2001. He is survived by his wife and three daughters.
