Homicide Suspected As Man In His 20s Stabbed To Death On Melbourne Street

Homicide police in Victoria are investigating the death of a man aged in his 20s, who was found with fatal stab woulds overnight on a street in West FootscrayMelbourne.

The man, who remains unidentified, was found under a rail bridge on Ashley Street, a short distance from nearby Tottenham Station.

Paramedics were called in an attempt to resuscitate the man, who had reportedly been stabbed a number of times in his back, but he died at the scene.

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby station and are combing the area for clues, including a possible weapon.

According to reports in The Age, police cordoned off an area on Ashley Street as part of their investigation, and there were “fears” that it might rain and wash away physical evidence.

One eyewitness account has suggested that the incident occurred after a “meeting went wrong”, but investigators are yet to confirm further details.

Homicide detectives are also investigating a separate incident in Sunshine West overnight, in which a still-unidentified man died in a house on McGregor Court.

Victoria Police say that a woman was found at the scene with non-life threatening injuries.

It is unclear at this stage whether the two incidents are connected.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
