Hey Guys, Do You Think The Daily Tele Is Mad About Last Night’s Origin?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of decades, you’ll know that Queensland are pretty bloody good at rugby league. They proved it again with last night’s 26 – 16 State of Origin victory over New South Wales. A sad loss for the Blues, but by now an expected one.

The Daily Telegraph aren’t going to take that one sitting down. To them, State of Origin is a mere blip in history, greatly dwarfed by all of NSW’s other achievements. They’ve run a pretty stunning cover story to that effect:

NSW is experiencing an unprecedented era of success, with the sustained period of over-achievement across a raft of areas from the arts and international sporting stages to economic performance becoming the envy of the world.

The origin of the incredible turnaround came as other states obsessed over regional sporting fixtures, with the people of NSW setting their goals to more global heights, transforming Sydney into Australia’s only international city.

We’re not mad about State of Origin. Nope. Not mad. We’re actually laughing. Laughing at the dismal economic failure of Queensland, that is.

They copped a quote from Mike Baird, who is also extremely not mad about last night’s loss. “Our economy is the strongest in the country, we have the best tourist attractions, cutting edge medical researchers and an arts and events calendar that is the envy of the nation,’’ he said.
Calm down fellas. There’s always next year.
