HBO Reveals Five Eerie ‘True Detective’ Teasers

When Breaking Bad drew to a close a few weeks ago, and we immediately assumed the foetal baby blue position, the future of our mindless, vacuous, borderline unhealthy binge television habits felt dangerously threatened. Game Of Thrones Season 4 is achingly out of sight; Mad Men’s Season 7 lingers cruelly, unattainably on the horizon. We struggled to write a post “Things To Fill The Bleak Breaking Bad Void In Your Soulless Heart”, because nothing, except maybe buying a beat up Winnebago and hopelessly reenacting Walt/Jesse classic quips (while weeping) to live vicariously through TV nostalgia quite came up to scratch.

Enter: HBO’s True Detective. Written by Nic Pizolatto, directed by Cary Fukunaga and starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, its tantalising trailer released last month stirred our impeccable long-form TV appetites in to a hungry motion. Following two state detectives’ (McConaughy and Harrelson) two-decade long chase to find a serial killer in Louisiana, True Detective, in a word, looks spectacular.
HBO has now released five teasers that tell us absolutely nothing about the show’s story, content or its characters, but certainly does confirm its immaculate production values, insane budget and that its vast cinematography is Michael Slovis-esque flawless.
Start counting down till January, friends.
